We headed to Sun Peaks, BC for the 2015 DH Canadian National Championships. Dan was ready to defend his 2014 title and Sam was aiming the podium! Sam was a part of the Quebec Provincial Team for this event and here’s the recap from the Quebec Team.
Dan ended up in 6th in a stacked fiel just couple seconds off the Top 3. Sam had a nasty crash and couldn’t complete the course. Ended his day with a DNF.
From left to right, Bastien Major, Anthony Poulson, Liam Rourke, Sam Thibault, Francis Perron, Felix Leclerc, Philippe Ricard, Gabriel Lavoie and Luc Langevin.
Phil Ricard was spotted watching the « how to bubba scrub » video couple times this week. We think he learned it…
Our younger rider this year is the little phenom, Anthony Poulson. A good 6th place finish in U17 for him.
The Junior Expert category was filled with big names this year. Francis Perron was looking good in practice. Unfortunately he had 2 crashes in his race run and came just outside the Top 15 in 16th.
It can not always go well. The winner of the first Canada Cup in Tremblant, QC, Sam Thibault had a big crash in finals and couldn’t complete the dusty Sun Peaks’ course. In the end, the best Quebec performance came to Philippe Ricard who impressed many with a solid 5th place finish in Elite.
The rest of the team, Felix Leclerc, Liam Rourke and Gabriel Lavoie ended up respectively in 12th, 13th and 19th in Junior Expert. As the dust is slowly settling, the team will travel to Panorama Mountain Resort to attend the second round of the Canada Cup Series but before that, a mandatory stop at Silver Star Bike Park is planned. Thanks to the FQSC, Serge Desrosiers, Luc Langevin from Cycles Performance, Bastien Major from Major Cycles, the riders, their families and all their respective racing teams.
